Data deletion instructions

Last updated: April 24, 2026

This page explains how you can delete the personal data Sofia stores about you, including data obtained from Meta (Instagram / Facebook) when you connected your account. See our full Privacy Policy for detail on what we store and why.

1. What we store

  • Your Sofia account (email, name, password hash, preferences, billing data);
  • Content you created, scheduled or published through Sofia (posts, images, videos, captions, analytics);
  • OAuth tokens and basic profile information for each connected social network (including your Instagram Business account ID, username and profile picture);
  • Analytics metrics fetched from each connected platform for the media you published through Sofia;
  • Logs needed for security and legal compliance.

2. Option 1 — Delete your Sofia account (recommended)

This deletes all your Sofia data, including the Meta connection.

  1. Sign in to Sofia at sofia-post.com or open the Sofia mobile app.
  2. Go to Settings → Account.
  3. Click Delete my account.
  4. Confirm with your password.

Effect:

  • Your account is immediately deactivated.
  • All OAuth tokens (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat) are revoked and deleted.
  • Your content, drafts, scheduled publications and cached analytics are deleted within 30 days.
  • Billing records are retained for 10 years to comply with French accounting law, but are no longer used for any processing.

3. Option 2 — Disconnect only your Meta account

If you want to keep your Sofia account but remove the Meta connection:

  1. Sign in to Sofia.
  2. Go to Settings → Connected accounts.
  3. Next to "Instagram" (or "Facebook"), click Disconnect.

Effect:

  • The OAuth token is immediately revoked with Meta and deleted from Sofia.
  • Any scheduled publication targeting that account is cancelled.
  • Cached profile and insights data for that account are deleted within 30 days.

You can also revoke Sofia directly from Meta:

  • Facebook: Settings & Privacy → Settings → Business Integrations → Sofia → Remove.
  • Instagram (via the Facebook account that manages it): same path.

When you remove Sofia from Meta, Meta sends Sofia a Deauthorize callback. We then revoke and delete the token on our side within the same 30-day window.

4. Option 3 — Email request

If you cannot access the app, request deletion by email:

  • To: [email protected]
  • Subject: Data deletion request — Sofia account <your email>
  • Body: include the email address associated with your Sofia account and, if applicable, the Instagram username you connected.

We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on file, to verify your identity. We respond within 30 days (usually within 72 hours) with a confirmation of deletion.

Some data is retained for strictly limited periods:
