Accepted sizes and formats

The limits are not the same depending on whether you import into the media library or add media to a post.

WhereFormatsSize
Media libraryJPEG, PNG, WebP10 MB at most
Media libraryMP4, MOV100 MB at most
ComposerJPG, PNG, MP440 MB at most

The media library also limits imports: 30 per hour at most.

“This file is too large”

The file exceeds the allowed size: 10 MB for an image, 100 MB for a video in the media library. Export it again lighter, or compress the video, then try again.

“This file type isn’t accepted”

Use JPEG, PNG, WebP, MP4 or MOV. Another format, such as a PDF, is rejected.

“You’ve reached the limit of 30 imports per hour”

Wait a little and try again, or import fewer files at a time.

“This file couldn’t be verified”

Sofia could not read the image. Export it again as a JPEG, between 320 and 8,000 pixels wide, then try again.

“The upload didn’t go through”

Check your connection and try again.

In a post

  • A single post does not mix photos and videos.
  • When a network accepts fewer media files than you added, the composer says so: “… accepts at most N media files per post”.
  • If the network rejects the media afterwards, the post goes to “Failed” with the reason “media rejected”: replace it from “Edit”, then “Try again”.

See Images and video and Posting rules by network.
